NOKC.ca in Reflection -- In October of 2011 I won a trip to Italy, via winning the Sr. Rotax NOKC championship. I was treated to a weekend of exciting top of the world racing, sponsored by G.P. Canada. I had a G.P Kart provided to me along with an engine and a set of tires. This trip would have never been possible for me without the great prize the NOKC and Launi family provided. I met the owners of G.P and had a great time. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a competitive field of drivers to race in the NOKC, and maybe you could win a fantastic prize just like I did.

Andrew Waring

NOKC Awards Sponsorships to its Champions

"NOKC competitors receive sponsorship to compete at Bridgestone Cup in Italy"

Gilford, Ontario - November 2, 2011 - The inaugural season of the Northern Ontario Karting Championship (NOKC) has come to a close and four champions have become recipients of the Bridgestone Cup trips, all part of one of the most lucrative prize offerings of any karting series in Canada. Andrew Waring, Michael Tabi, Chad Campbell and Zachary Shearer are the four NOKC competitors to receive sponsorship to attend the October 2011 Bridgestone Cup recently held in South Garda, Italy. Shearer passed his sponsorship on to Stefan Semeraro, and Tabi, Campbell and Semeraro have decided to use their sponsorship to attend the March 15-18, 2012 Florida Winter Tour Rotax round at Ocala Gran Prix in Ocala, Florida instead of joining Waring at the Bridgestone Cup.

"We are very happy to have our Canadian drivers attend international events. We think it is a great experience for young drivers to be exposed to different tracks and compete against drivers from all over the world. Our goal is to give our young drivers an opportunity to experience all that kart racing has to offer," expressed the Launi family on behalf of the NOKC and GP Racing Canada. "We would like to thank all of our NOKC participants and congratulations goes out to all our drivers."

NOKC Senior Rotax Championship winner Andrew Waring received full sponsorship from NOKC to travel to and race the KZ2 Bridgestone Cup in South Garda Italy for GP Racing. Waring practiced at the recent event for two days before taking to the track for official qualifying. Struggling to find the pace, Waring would clock 56th of 58 drivers during the timed session, among a stacked international field. After three heats, Waring would find himself in the last chance qualifier where he would finish 45th. Steadily showing improvements throughout the event, Waring would post times that would have put him in the final.

"Racing in Europe is different than racing at the Canadian tracks; there's more grip and competition is close as you see in the results," noted Waring of his international racing endeavor.  "The scenery was excellent! Going down the straightaway you look at the mountains and you forget you were racing," continued Waring. "I want to thank the Launi family, GP Racing and NOKC for this opportunity."

"We are so happy that Andrew and his family were able to enjoy their trip to South Garda, and represent GP Canada and NOKC," noted the Launi family. "We knew that Andrew and his family would be well taken care in Italy and thank you to Beppe and GianPiero from the GP Racing Italy team for supporting our Canadian driver."

The NOKC would like to thank all their sponsors and volunteers who helped make the inaugural season such a success. The NOKC is also proud to announce they will maintain their status as a Rotax qualifying series for the 2012 season.
